kitty cuddles

Let's just say that the toddler bed transition has not been going smoothly! Aly is now afraid or unwilling I am not sure which to sleep in her new bed and she spends hours laying by her bedroom door wailing and screaming. She has only napped in the car or in my arms this entire week (not for more than 20 minutes at a time) and she has taken hours to fall asleep at night (crying at her door) and is waking up at all hours of the early morning wanting mommy or daddy. My patience is wearing thin and so is my sanity! She is moody and irritable and we are all exhausted! Finally tonight my prayers were answered and after only 20 minutes of crying she was out (compared to the 2 hours or more the rest of the week) laying by her door of course, but asleep none the less, I'll take it! Then an hour or two later Russ hears a whining coming from her room, confused he opens her door a crack and who wanders out but Noki, our adorable kitty! I now know the reason my child lulled off to sleep so quickly, Noki cuddled her to sleep! What a cutie! This isn't the first time I have caught Noki comforting my sweet babe and I must say I am grateful we have such a sweet kitty who is so patient with our toddler. So here is a THANKS to Nokers! We are all grateful you are a part of our family! Nothing better than a kitty cuddle to drift you off to sleep!

Good luck with the crying thing. I did that with Hannah and James a few times, just don't give in or it's worse! Eventually they seem to get it that that's they way life is. And how cute that your cat totally cuddled with her. That's better than a blankie.

Hang in there Mindy...it will get better, I promise! Know that you can always send her over for a few hours so you can take a nap...we would love to have her! I can't believe only 18 more days! Man that 9 months has gone FAST!!

try putting a lite-up fish aquarium in her room where she can watch the fish swim while she is in bed. Make up some cutsie story to go with the fish that would make her want to stay in bed, and see what happens. Another trick, buy her some super hero/barbie/ whatever she likes sheets for her bed. Sometimes that will work too. The aquarium worked for me once.

I have no such advice for the toddler bed, but I will definitely be checking back at the comments made to get ideas! How frustrating for you, Mindy! Especially because you're ready to have your baby. I can only imagine how much harder my life is going to be being pregnant the 2nd time around, when I have a toddler to look after and I can't just go lay down anytime. Haha. So much fun! Good luck.

I would just like to note that we had 12 continuous hours of sleep last night! By her door of course, not IN her bed . . . it will take some time I am realizing for her to adjust to the newfound freedom of being able to get OUT of bed. But 12 hours of sleep!!! You should see my child today, pleasant, sweet, talkative, and TANTRUM FREE! Oh how I have missed this little girl! There is a light at the end of this tunnel! Maybe by next week she sill go to bed without crying! Hooray!
