{turkey days}

Yes you read that title correctly DAYS!!! The kids and I participated in not one, not two, but THREE thanksgiving dinners on three separate days! We are not only very grateful for Thanksgiving and the bountiful harvest... we are a little thankful that it is now over! Our celebration began on Tuesday, Our brother-in-law (Russ' sister's husband) had to work on Thanksgiving and was going to be out of town so we had a big turkey dinner on Tuesday night with me, the kids, Uncle Harold, Peg (Russ' mom), Matt, Lisa, Michael, and Gabby (Russ was working but we brought him some food at work). Then of course on Wednesday we ate leftovers, By Thursday (thanksgiving day) we were a little turkey-ed out so my sis-in law Lisa made a delicious meal of roast beef and oven roasted veggies (which btw were so beyond delicious! I have had some serious veggie cravings with this pregnancy, cucumbers being high on the list... odd I know, but those veggies were manna from heaven!). Russ again had to work so he had yet to experience the big family meal and so when Friday rolled around I had planned to cook a big meal at our house, I had been brining my turkey for 20 hours and had bought all the ingredients for a delicious feast... forget the fact that I could hardly eat another bite, I was cooking! So cook we did, YUM! I had room for this turkey! It was moist and DELICIOUS! and my turtle-pumpkin-cream pie was somewhat heavenly as well! We ate played games, watched a movie and cousin/nephew Michael even slept over for the night! Alyse was in heaven playing with her two oldest cousins and acting like she herself was quite grown up and Thatcher became quite attached to Mr. Michael and they cuddled up together often throughout the weekend. I of course was so busy visiting, cooking, and chasing children that I didn't take any pics except for this one...

How cute is my sweet little boy cuddled up with his big cousin? Thanks Mike for being so patient and sweet to my babies! Love you!

All in all it was a marvelous week of celebration, we talked about things we are thankful for, watched the traditional parade, ate WAY too much food (can I just say I am grateful my doctor appointment was the day before all of my feasting began and not the day after it was over... it is scary enough standing on that scale pregnant... I am adding that to my list of things I am grateful for), put up our Christmas decorations (probably Aly's favorite part of the entire week!), and played games!
The only thing missing was football... due to the fact that Russ was at work most of the week and he is the only one in our little family who really cares much about it... I can't say I missed it much but it was strange to not even have on ONE game... I am sure he will find time during the rest of the season to make up for it ;)
