Christmas Tag

Ok.........here goes. I got tagged.

1. Egg Nog or Hot chocolate...........HOT CHOCOLATE!! (made in the Cocomotion all frothy with whipped cream and cocoa powder on top make it all the better, oh and a candy cane to stir it with!)

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? ........Growing up he set them out, Mike and I each had our own couch and he left them there for us. But these days he usually wraps, unless they are too big.

3. Colored lights on a tree/house or white.............White or Red, solid colors no multi for me, however one of my good friends did an adorable tree last year with multi colored lights and bright colorful whimsical ornaments that was SO CUTE! It totally matched her personality and was so bright and fun, not traditional but full of whimsyl!

4. Do I hang mistletoe?............No. I have NEVER seen misltetoe in the stores but that could be a fun tradition to start I am all for something that encouarges Russ to kiss me ;)

5. When do I put up my decorations?.............Usually the day after Thanksgiving. Although I am a little nervous about Aly and the decor this year ( I am certain she will want to remove all the ornaments from the tree etc., etc.) I will maybe postpone a week or two.

6. What is my favorite holiday dish?.................. cheesy potatoes and my mom's homemade rolls.

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child.............. Christmas Eve at Grandma G's. It was so fun being together with the cousins and we had such yummy food! Amie and I always got matching Barbies and we would spend the evening playing with them in the spare bedroom downstairs while the grown-ups went upstairs to open their gifts. I loved that old house in Spanish Fork and miss it still when the holidays come around.

8. When and how did I learn the truth about Santa?...............Third grade. My brother asked my mom if he was real while we out running errands I was in the back seat and listened as she told him 'no' I must say I kinda already knew but it was still a bit of a shock.

9. Do we open a Christmas gift on Christmas Eve? .............. Yes, Christmas PJ's

10. How do I decorate our tree?...............White lights, red and burgandy berry sprigs, wooden and tin stars, red and green snow men, raffia tied burgandy and silver balls. (Kind of antiqu-ish tin and wood, red, burgandy, cream, and green.)

11. Can I ice skate?.................. Yes, but I am not great! I can do circles around the rink however.

12. Can I remember my favorite gift?..............I was in 3rd grade. Santa brought me the exact baby girl doll that I was wishing for with real 'preemie' clothes and blankets, etc. Then after we opened all the presents my Dad saw a box in the corner with my name on it (it was from Santa) inside was the twin boy doll that matched my baby girl! I was so thrilled! That was my last Christmas believing in Santa and it was truly memorable. I still have those dolls and Alyse plays with them now. It is so fun to see my little girl love a toy that I cherished so dearly!

13. What is the most important thing about he holidays for me?........... Being with family. Creating memories and traditions for my children. Giving to others.

14. What is my favorite holiday dessert?............ Grandma G's Christmas Dessert!!! (and Pumkin Roll with cream cheese frosting.)

15. What is my favorite holiday tradition?............. It is one that I have inherited through my in-laws. Russ' Family always has to drink a glass of orange juice before you can open any presents. It is almost torture to HAVE to finish the orange juice when the anticipation of presents is looming it adds to the excitement!

16. What tops my tree............A tin snowman

17. What do I prefer. Giving or receiving...............Can I say BOTH? It is always fun to get presents but I do enjoy shopping or making gifts for family and friends!

18. What is my favorite Christmas song?..................... 'Grown-Up Christmas List'

19. Candy Canes?.............. I anticipate the entire year through for peppermint ice cream to be stocked in the freezer section! Candy canes YES!!!!!

20. Do I feel Christmas is too commercialized?...............Yes, although I don't really remember a time that it wasn't so it is hard to imagine it otherwise.

I tag Mom, Julia, and Lisa.
