{big changes}

I have been stressing and contemplating what is going to happen next year with my employment. With all the budget cuts and changes in the district (and everywhere else) Reading Recovery was no longer and option at our school my principal is AMAZING and was able to keep me as a 'reading interventionist' although she unsure as to what that would really entail or if I would be able to continue in that position the next year. Russ and I have considered the possibility of me going back full-time but were hesitant since I would likely have to change schools and there are so few opening in the district this year I may not be able to get a position in the grade of my choice. Then yesterday at faculty meeting my principal announces that one of our fifth grade teachers is moving up to the 6th grade center and a fourth grade teacher will be taking her place leaving a 4th grade opening... not my ideal grade level but at my school. I came home and Russ and I talked it over and prayed about it I felt strongly I should go full time but was hesitant to actually call and ask for the position, I decided I would sleep on it. I prayed and prayed last night that I would know what to do and fell asleep with all this on my mind. Maggie and I were up well before dawn and I sat nursing her I decided that my answer was to wait everything would work out. I got Maggie to sleep just as the other kids awoke and Russ took the 'Daddy shift' so Maggie and I could take a short nap. I woke up just after 9:00 to the phone ringing. It was my principal, Susan. Asking me if I wanted a position teaching Kindergarten next year full-time! It was the answer to my prayers... the job I wanted, at the school I am at, teaching full time! I am going to miss my part time schedule it has been a great 2 years being home more and I have LOVED every moment of it but I know this is what is best for our family for now and I have wanted a Kindergarten position since I began teaching it has always been my goal. I am so very excited for this new adventure and I know many amazing opportunities await! Now just so you know all that had to happen for this to 'fall' into place here is the breakdown of what happened from my first prayer to my 9 am phone call:
Katie (1st grade) took the 4th grade position
Shanna (4th grade) took Katie's 1st grade position
Amber (1st grade) took Shanna's 4th grade position
Danielle (Kindergarten) took Amber's 1st grade position
Leaving a full time opening in Kindergarten and a phone call from my principal to me,

Here is the even better part Peg is going to watch my kids from 1:30-4:30 Monday-Thursday. 2 days/weeks at her house so that Aly can go to pre-school right next door to Peg's house, and the other 2 days at my house. Thatcher naps from 1:30-4 so he will be sleeping and she will just have to cuddle my Maggie most of the time making it a great arrangement! Russ has Friday's off so he will be home with them and I get off early on Friday! I will miss being away from my kids more but I know that they will be well taken care of and I am doing something I love... there's the update! Wish me luck!

I wish you were teaching Kindergarten here...We are lacking on teachers, my oldest goes to kindergarten this year and her teacher is considered a permanent sub, not their teacher? I don't get it either...
I am glad everything fell into place for you!

How fabulous that you get to get back into a career that you enjoy and is challenging for you! Extra income ALWAYS helps and it helps even more to love what you are doing. Good job!

I am so happy for you. I personally wish you were teaching First Grade, then you could teach my Jarek. You will be great with the kindergarteners!
Sounds like there are going to be some changes in fourth grade also, I wonder how that will effect my Tayden?
